I have indexed widely in the social sciences field, particularly psychology and education, and produced indexes for a range of other topics at secondary level and for books on music and the arts. I am particularly interested in art history, local history, psychology and music.
For more detailed information on subjects see my SI Directory entry.
I have a joint honours degree in education and have studied aspects of psychology and sociology. I have a lifelong interest in music and have studied classical singing. As a qualified librarian I have worked in libraries with a responsibility for local history collections. Art history is a particular passion and I have taken a number of courses to expand my knowledge in this area.
I achieved Fellowship of the Society of Indexers in March 2006.
I have been tutoring indexing students since 2007 and have delivered live workshops on indexing practice. I run an online Indexing Basics short course and also deliver my own online workshop on
Active indexing: creating indexes for eBooks.
I oversee SI training as Training Course Co-ordinator and am Director for Continuing Professional Development on the SI Executive Board.
I enjoy art exhibitions, going to the theatre, cycling, gardening and of course reading. I love solo singing and have belonged to several choral societies.
